Husband and I shared the combo com tam suon plate that came with Bi, Cha, Suon, Tau Hu Ky, and Chao Tom.
Along with extra rice, a sunny side up egg and a soda chanh, lunch was $35 for just one order.
The suon was so thin, it was more like thit nuong. The marinade is so sweet.
The Bi and cha were both extra soft. Probably best bi I've had in a while.
This place is just ok. I still like Dat Thanh better for the Com Tam cravings. -

Took a chance on this place since we were nearby, it was still early, not quite 11 am, but we were hungry from our Real ID application session at the DMV down the street. I don't know how long this restaurant has been here, but the interior is starting to show its wear and tear. At least our table was not sticky, that always grosses me out!
I ordered the rice plate with pork chops and shrimp cake, the pork had great flavor, only minor complaint was that it was on the dry side. That shrimp cake blew me away! It was really good! If it weren't for the chunk of iceberg lettuce, I would have been a proud member of the clean plate club. -

I already knew this place was gonna be fire when the entire Vietnamese community raves about it, especially the older generation that goes by word of mouth and doesn't read reviews. We already know San Jose is the mecca of all good Viet food. Y'all...I went in here with high expectations and this place MET all my expectations. When we sat down, we overheard the table next to us with two older Vietnamese gentlemen raving to each other in Vietnamese saying "the meat here is marinated so well!" My only complaint is the price. Inflation hit this restaurant hard because I compared prices from now to 3 years ago and they really spiked. The food is really good and worth it though. Plus, I was from out of town and you can always splurge when you're vacationing, amirite?
I got the #73 special rice combination with suon bo dai han (BBQ beef rib), tau hu ky (fried shrimp cake), bi (shredded pork skin), cha (egg cake), chao tom (grilled shrimp on sugarcane) and added trung opla (fried egg). You GUYS...the old Viet men were right - the marinade on the meat was BOMB. There's gotta be crack in it because it was legitimately the best marinated BBQ beef I have ever had. The tau hu ky (fried shrimp cake) is super delicious too and really cool. No other place does tau hu ky like Com Tam Thien Huong. They coat their well-seasoned shrimp paste in tofu/bean curd skin and fry it really well. All the flavors are just really spot on here. There wasn't a single bite that tasted bad. They also give you a fresh chili pepper that is spicy AF that just amps up your dish. Ya girl loves her spice. Com Tam Thien Huong is THE place to go for Vietnamese rice plates. -

Always consistent in taste. They bring your orders out quick, waiters are bilingual and they attempt to do their best and generally accommodate their customers. Don't be upset if there's some miscommunication. You're there for the wonderful amt of food and taste. I love com Tam bi, Tau hu ky, suon, Korean short ribs. It's number 73 or something like that. Also, my other favorite is the com ga hai nam but their chicken is free range or something so they look skinny and you get little. I always go for the dark meat cuz it's good but I should try the breast next time.
